Connie Mack Beats Bill Nelson in New Poll
U.S. Rep. Connie Mack, who is expected to enter the Republican primary field, leads Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in a poll from Rasmussen Reports released on Friday.
Mack takes 43 percent of the likely voters surveyed, while Nelson --who won the seat back in 2000 when Macks father retired --takes 39 percent.
Nelson did better against two other hopefuls for the Republican nomination. The Democrat led former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux by 6 percent, beating him 39 percent to 33 percent. Nelson did better against former Florida House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, leading the Republican 40 percent to 31 percent.
The poll of 500 likely voters in Florida was taken on Nov. 17 and had a margin of error of +/- 4.5 percent.
