Commercial Lease Tax Cut Backed by Business Groups With TV Ad
With the Legislature assembling in Tallahassee on Tuesday for the start of the regular session, some of the leadership of the business community launched a TV commercial on Friday urging legislators back Gov. Rick Scott’s proposal to cut the commercial lease tax.
The “Cut My Rent 1 Percent Coalition,” which incudes the Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida, the Associated Industries of Florida (AIF), the Florida Realtors, the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, the Florida Retail Federation, the state chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and other groups is running the ad.
“Cutting taxes on small business owners encourages growth, expansion and job creation,” said Bill Herle, the executive director of the Florida chapter of the NFIB. “It’s time to start getting needless taxes like the business rent tax off the books and help the business owners across the state who create jobs and give back to the economy. We look forward to working with the Gov. Scott and the Florida Legislature to cut this tax and make Florida an even better place to own, operate and grow a small business.”
