College-Tuition Note to Allison Tant

Note to Allison Tant:

Are you eating your words yet, Allison? Gov. Rick Scott isn't pushing flat college tuition to win votes, he's been consistently advocating to keep tuition as low as possible for Florida's tapped-out college students. He's right on message.

When you said in September, "Voters deserve to know just how much education funding will suffer because the governor wants a new talking point for his re-election campaign," I wondered where you've been. Maybe you don't remember: Scottvetoed a 3 percent tuition increase at state colleges and universities in this year's budget and he pressured universities not to take advantage of a section of state law that provides for an automatic increase tied to inflation.

The governor has been flogging the low-tuition horse since 2011.

More important, why don't youand the Democrats have the plight of college students on your agenda? Are you going to tell students they're not a liberal enough item to make the cut on the Democrats' priority list?
