Circuit Judge Narrows Jeff Clemens's Lead over Mack Bernard; Bernard to Appeal
Submitted by Kevin Derby on September 17, 2012 - 11:33am
Judge Terry Lewis of the2nd Judicial Circuit Court of Florida this morning narrowed the lead of Rep.Jeff Clemens of Lake Worth over Democratic primary rival Mack Bernard of West Palm Beach, adding nine uncounted provisional ballots to the latter's total, thereby reducing Clemens' lead to just eight votes.
Lewis declined to count 40 absentee ballots in Bernard's favor, after finding that a "reasonable person" could find that the signatures on these ballots did not match those on file with the elections office. Bernard's attorney, former Republican Rep. J.C. Planas, says his client will appeal the decision.
