Christian Family Coalition Wants House to Back Voluntary Prayer

The Christian Family Coalition is calling on the Florida House to follow the Senate, which approved SB 98 last week -- in a 31-8 vote -- that would let individual school boards across Florida decide if students could conduct inspirational messages at mandatory school functions.

The CFC issued the following statement:

"After years of educating and lobbying our state officials on this issue, all schoolchildren in Florida are one step closer to protection from religious discrimination thanks to todays vote, said Anthony Verdugo, founder and executive director of the Christian Family Coalition (CFC).

Discrimination against schoolchildren based on their faith, is a scourge on our state and its time we protect religious students in our schools and give administrators the tools they need to combat this serious problem.

No one should face discrimination simply because of what they believe. This bill is a critical step to erasing the hate in our schools that has devastated far too many families.
