Christian Conservative Gary Bauer Backs Bill McCollum

Former presidential candidate and national conservative leader Gary Bauer endorsed Attorney General Bill McCollum for governor on Tuesday over Republican primary rival Rick Scott. Bauer, who is now with the Campaign for Working Families PAC and the group American Values, is a vocal opponent of abortion and a staunch defender of the need for religious voices in the public square.

It gives me great pleasure to have Gary supporting my campaign, said McCollum. As a strong Christian and national leader on family issues, Gary has been a leading voice in the social conservative movement. As governor, I will continue to stand up for the rights of the unborn, fight for family values, and advance initiatives that will strengthen Floridas businesses and families.

Now more than ever, we need men and women who understand the proper, limited role of government, said Bauer who ran in the 2000 GOP presidential primaries, outlasting a number of prominent Republicans including Elizabeth Dole, Dan Quayle and Lamar Alexander. Bill McCollums leadership in support of pro-family, pro-life, and pro-free enterprise policies is greatly valued by the Campaign for Working Families and all of our members. Im proud to stand with him in the fight for family, faith and freedom.
