Chris Sprowls Gathers Broad Support Before Campaign Kickoff

Chris Sprowls will be kicking off his efforts to unseat incumbent Rep. Carl Zimmerman, D-Palm Harbor, for the House District 65 seat on Sept. 12 in Tarpon Springs.

Sprowls currently works as an assistant state attorney for Florida's 6th Judicial Circuit, which serves Pasco and Pinellas counties. He is also special prosecutor in the gang unit at the state attorney's office. Before he began working at the state attorney's office, he attended the University of South Florida and later the Stetson University School of Law.

Sprowls has already gathered a large group of high-profile supporters across the state. Sen. Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, and Rep. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, have both added their names to the list of Sprowls supporters. Other supporters include State Attorney Bernie McCabe and Sen. John Legg, R-Trinity.

District 65 covers much of north Pinellas County and includes Palm Harbor, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, and East Lake.

Zimmerman has been representing the district since 2012, but may find himself in hot water when he faces off against Sprowls, who has alreadysurpassed him in donations by more than 3.5 to 1.

The kickoff party for Sprowls' campaign will be held on Sept. 12 at the Riverside Grille House Veranda, 10 Dodecanese Blvd in Tarpon Springs.
