Charlie Crist Draws Fire from the NRCC
On Wednesday, a day after he launched a congressional bid, former Gov. Charlie Crist was in Washington, D.C. which drew fire from the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).
“Charlie Crist is an opportunistic politician who cares about nobody but himself and his inflated political ego,” said Chris Pack, a spokesman for the NRCC, on Wednesday. “It is baffling that just 24 hours after Crist was bashing Washington insiders in his candidacy announcement that he would be arrogant enough to show up in Washington to meddle with those very Washington insiders. With a lack of political intelligence like this, it’s no wonder Crist hasn’t won a race in years.”
Crist won three state Cabinet offices as a Republican before running for the U.S. Senate in 2010. Caught in the Republican primary by Marco Rubio, Crist left the GOP to continue his bid with no party affiliation but he was blown out in the general election. After endorsing President Barack Obama for a second term, Crist joined the Democrats in 2012 and was his new party’s candidate against Gov. Rick Scott last year and, again, lost. Crist is running as a Democrat for the seat currently held by U.S. Rep. David Jolly, R-Fla., who is running for the Senate in 2016.
