Chaos Now Front-runner in Florida Senate President Race

Rumor squashed: Andy Gardiner is not leaving the Florida Senate president race.

Much to the chagrin of Don Gaetz, John Thrasher and Jack Latvala, Andy Gardiner is not dropping out of the 2014 Florida Senate President race, sources tell Sunshine State News.

Gaetz's surprising move today, to push Gardiner out of the race in favor of Thrasher, looks to have backfired on the Senate president-designate. Gardiner's backers are more resilient than ever, with multiple sources telling SSN that Gardiner still holds more than 10 current Republican senators' pledge cards. That's more pledges than either Latvala (The "St. Pete" Times' golden boy) or Thrasher.

"Chaos is reigning in the Florida Senate," said a GOP insider. "The real winners are Dean Cannon and House Republicans, who are sure to take advantage of it in these critical last three weeks of session."
