Chamber Rejects Bill Nelson's Demand to Shut Down TV Ads

The president of the Florida Chamber of Commerce has an answer to Sen. Bill Nelson's demand that a series of "TV attack ads" be taken off the air.

Nelson, D-Fla., assailed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for airing "false" advertising that "distorts my record on Medicare and health-care reform." He cited a liberal media outlet's claim that the ad -- reciting Nelson's health-care votes -- was "pants on fire" untrue.

But Florida Chamber of Commerce President Mark Wilson wasn't buying any of Nelson's spin.

Politicians sometimes vote one way and then tell their constituents they voted another. As the voice of business in Florida, we have found that it is not uncommon for a friend of the plaintiff trial lawyers to use lawyers and loopholes to try and block television and radio ads they dont want their constituents to see," Wilson said in a statement.

Wilson further offered the chamber's services in deciphering truth from fiction.

"If a voter education ad is sponsored by the Florida Chamber, we invite inquiries to Edie Ousley at our headquarters in Tallahassee at 850-521-1231," Wilson said.
