In CD 22, West Poll Shows Him Leading Klein 48-42

Days after U.S. Rep. Ron Klein issued a poll showing him up 48-40 against Republican challenger Allen West, West has come back with a poll giving him a 48-42 lead over the Democrat.

The survey in the 22nd Congressional District was conducted by Wilson Research Strategies Sept. 20-22, just was political controversy was swirling over a Democratic Party campaign mailer that listed West's Social Security number.

In the poll, West increased his name identification to 82 percent and had a favorable to unfavorable rating of 39-27. Klein's favorable-unfavorable rating was listed at 41-38.

Among Independents, West held a 52-36 lead.

The survey had a 5.6-percentage point margin of error.
