CD 19 Prediction: Gary Aubuchon, Paige Kreegel Top Prospects to Succeed Connie Mack
The departure of Lee County Commissioner Tammy Hall from the 19th Congressional District race has helped state Rep. Gary Aubuchon, Hall's former campaign strategist says.
"Most of her supporters went over to Gary," Anthony Pedicini told Sunshine State News on Saturday. "He definitely has taken the inside track."
The contest to succeed Rep. Connie Mack, R-Naples, remains crowded and contentious, however. Other leading candidates are state Rep. Paige Kreegel, R-Punta Gorda, Trey Radel and Chauncey Goss.
Pedicini believes that recent coverage of Radel's purchase of rivals' Internet domain names could blow up in his face.
"Little tricks like that can backfire. People want solutions to the problems facing this country, and that doesn't help," he suggested.
Pedicini, who says he has no connection to any of the candidates still in the hunt, sees Kreegel as the chief challenger to Aubuchon, based largely on the physician-lawmaker's prodigious fundraising base.
As for Hall, she told Sunshine State News:
"I am not inclined to support any of the remaining candidates. The field is filled with qualified individuals and they certainly do not need my assistance to move forward with their individual endeavors."
