Carlos Lopez-Cantera Tees Off on Obama's Deal With Iran

Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, currently running for the Republican nomination in this year’s U.S. Senate race, weighed in on Monday afternoon as sanctions were lifted on Iran over the weekend.

“I am thankful Americans are coming home, but it is important to address the dangerous game the Obama administration is playing with our nation’s foreign policy,” Lopez-Cantera said.
“Negotiating with terrorists should not be the policy of the United States, but it has become so under President Obama.

“As part of the implementation of the Iran deal that gave relief from sanctions on Iran, the United States is awarding $1.7 billion back in interest in funds that never should have been returned to Iran,” Lopez-Cantera added. “This is money we can expect Iran to use to support terrorist groups like Hezbollah and Hamas who threaten our greatest ally: Israel. This is unacceptable foreign policy.

“This administration shows the ultimate illusion of toughness,” he continued. “The United States gave Iran $100 billion, as well as relief from the very sanctions that brought them to the table. Iran is working to further develop the ballistic missile technology, and this administration is delivering nothing more than giving them a slap on the wrist. The Obama administration continues to send the wrong message to our enemies around the world, and is making our country less safe and secure.”
