Carlos Lopez-Cantera on North Korea Bomb: Obama 'Has Made the World More Dangerous'

After reports broke that North Korea had tested a hydrogen bomb, Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, now running for the Republican nomination in the U.S. Senate race, weighed in, insisting President Barack Obama’s policies were to blame.

"North Korea’s nuclear test marks a growing line of provocative actions by the maniacal dictator, Kim,” Lopez-Cantera said in Wednesday morning. “But it is the weakness on the part of President Obama that has allowed him to grow his nuclear ambition and put the region and the world in further danger.

“Instead of standing up to rogue regimes, this president has accommodated them,” Lopez-Cantera added. “He has allowed North Korea to grow its ballistic missile and nuclear program without penalty and his terrible deal with Iran has set that terrorist regime on the same path.

“The president and Congress should immediately enact strong sanctions against the Korean regime until they surrender their nuclear weapons program, and they should also continue sanctions on the Iranians until they cease their development of ballistic missiles and truly give up their nuclear ambitions,” Lopez-Cantera continued. “This president has made the world more dangerous and put the lives of Americans directly at risk from a dangerous dictator armed with nuclear weapons.  It’s time that Washington start acting on behalf of our safety rather than endangering it.”
