Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera went to bat for his boss Gov. Rick Scott on Tuesday, releasing a video in Spanish attacking former Gov. Charlie Crist on crime. Despite having spent most of his political career as a Republican, Crist is the favorite for the Democratic nomination to challenge Scott in November.
Fifteen years ago, Florida passed a law called 10-20-Life to keep violent criminals off the streets, Lopez-Cantera said in translation. It requires minimum jail sentences for specific crimes committed using a gun. He supported it before, but its a shame Charlie Crist has now reversed his position on this law that keeps Florida families safe. Floridians simply cant trust Charlie Crist.
