Carlos Curbelo: Obama Needs to Do More to Prevent Cyber Attacks
U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., said the resignation of Office of Personnel Management Director Katherine Archuleta was not enough after reports emerged that more than 21 million Americans had their information stolen through a cyber attack aimed at the federal government.
On Friday, Curbelo called on the White House to do more and ensure this type of cyber attack is not repeated.
“The Obama administration has once again shown a lack of credibility when it comes to national security,” Curbelo said on Friday. “The resignation of OPM Director Archuleta after the largest data breach in our nation’s history comes as no consolation to Americans who had their privacy violated. This data breach is inexcusable, and leaves millions of Americans vulnerable to cyber attacks and financial threats. Technology is a driving force in our daily lives and moving forward, the Obama administration must take responsibility and ensure that we don’t have a repeat of this incident.”
