Carlos Curbelo on COP21: 'U.S. Cannot Lead Alone'

With the COP21summit concluding in Paris over the weekend, U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla., offered his take on its efforts against climate change.

“In order to make significant progress on reducing carbon emissions, it’s imperative that the world’s leading economies reach a consensus on how to proceed,” Curbelo said on Saturday. “It is particularly important for countries like China and India to cooperate and to honor their commitments. The United States cannot lead alone.

“Climate change is an issue of concern for current and future generations with potentially serious consequences for many parts of the world like South Florida if left unaddressed,” Curbelo added. “I am pleased that so many nations were committed to the success of this critical dialogue, and I look forward to reviewing the proposal that has been negotiated.”
