Carl Domino Turns Up the Heat on Patrick Murphy

Former state Rep. Carl Domino is turning up the heat on Beltway Democrats as he continues his bid for the Republican nomination to challenge U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla.

I'm embarrassed by our leaders in Washington ... Patrick Murphy, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and even Barack Obama, Domino wrote supporters on Friday. They can't pass a budget then they can't reach across the aisle to negotiate a deal to keep the government running. Then they wait until the final hour to raise the debt ceiling to prevent America from defaulting on her loans. And guess what they'll be doing it all over again come Jan. 15, 2014, when the government once again runs out of money!

They call this leadership, Domino continued. I call it pitiful. As a battle-tested businessman and proven private-sector job-creator, I know that when you're in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging! Washington needs to admit it has a spending problem and that begins with sending new leadership to Congress.

What big-government program is so vital right now that we need to borrow more money from China and tax hard-working Americans to pay for it? Domino asked. The answer is simple -- there isn't one. The bottom line is that it's time to restore common sense and fiscal sanity in Washington. And the only way to do that is to institute real change. That means firing inexperienced puppets like Patrick Murphy and replacing them with leaders who have real-life experience solving the problems America faces.
