Business Leaders Back Rick Scott’s Call to Double Quick-Training Money

Some of Floridas most influential business lobbying groups are behind a call by Gov. Rick Scott to double the Quick Response Training Program, which supports business expansion efforts, to around $12 million.

Tom Feeney, CEO and president of Associated Industries of Florida

"We applaud the governor's commitment to growing jobs in Florida. Many businesses are hiring, but need skilled talent to grow jobs. Through the governor's initiative in expanding worker training funding, Florida workers will be better positioned to compete for businesses that want to grow."

David Hart, executive vice president of the Florida Chamber of Commerce

Florida's Workforce System recently earned the No. 1 ranking for its work force training in the Enterprising States report released by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Chamber Foundation. By investing more into the Florida Chamber-backed Quick Response Training program, Governor Scott is continuing his efforts to reduce Florida's unemployment rate by putting more Floridians back to work and improving our state's economy."

Bill Herrle, Florida executive director of the National Federation of Independent Business

Businesses across Florida are ready to hire and expand, but they need access to a skilled work force that can meet their needs. The governor's proposal to boost funding for work force training will create a more experienced work force, which will better position Florida to attract businesses, support local businesses and compete with companies from around the world."
