Builders Back Expansion of Casino Gambling in Florida
Business groups continue to line up for and against expanding gaming as the wait approaches an end for a pair of South Florida legislators to file a bill that would allow more casinos in the Sunshine State.
The latest to join the ranks in favor of more destination resorts is the board of directors of Associated Builders and Contractors, Florida East Coast Chapter.
We support the project not just because the project will offer much-needed jobs for our members and their families, but because of the economic benefit it will bring for the great state of Florida and the region, the board stated in its resolution to support the pending identical bills by Rep. Erik Fresen, R-Miami, and Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff, R-Fort Lauderdale.
The resolution includes a caveat thatall permitting and construction follow the required bid solicitation process.
Last week, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, with a board headed by the Disney Chief Financial Officer Anthony Connelly, and the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association announced their opposition to the expansion of gaming.
