Bud Chiles Sounds Like a Candidate, Talking Oil Spill ... and Dick Cheney
Speculation continues to grow that Bud Chiles, the son of late Gov. Lawton Chiles, will be jumping into the Democratic gubernatorial primary to take on state CFO Alex Sink. That speculation will only increase after a statement that Bud Chiles released today.
Floridians are rightfully outraged over the negligence of BP and Haliburton that caused the ecological disaster which now threatens our natural treasures, our economy and our way of life, said Chiles. But now our own state leaders have heaped a cruel insult on top of this terrible injury by insisting that protection efforts be blessed by WRSCompass before taxpayers can be reimbursed for their costs.
Chiles noted that WRSCompass has as its CEO Kathleen Shanahan. Shanahan worked very closely with Dick Cheney, who still remains one of the Democarts' favorite targets.
This is no time to tie the hands of local government by forcing them to work through a firm whose principal was Dick Cheneys former chief of staff, said Chiles, before blasting the entire political culture of the state.
Sadly, this is another glaring example of why Floridas pay-to-play political system is in desperate need of reform, and one more reason why I am seriously considering a run for governor, said Chiles. Florida needs a leader who will stand up for our local governments and our citizens not stand aside while their interests are threatened.
Hmmmm. I wonder who Bud Chiles has in mind to fill that leadership role.
