Bozell Spikes Old Media as Incorrect and Increasingly Irrelevant

Media critic Brent Bozell recited a litany of press missteps and bias to the delight of a national tea party crowd Friday night.

Calling the rise of the tea party movement after the 2008 rout of the GOP "the most extraordinary revolution since the [American] revolution," Bozell said the media consistently underestimate the power of conservatives to win elections.

The director of the Media Research Center reported several instances of the mainstream media mischaracterizing the tea party movement and broadly demonizing conservatives in the wake of the shooting rampage in Tucson.

But Bozell said the old media are becoming as irrelevant as they are incorrect. While newspaper circulation and network TV ratings continue to tumble, Bozell reported that polls after the 2010 election showed the tea party movement was "more popular than either major party" and far more respected than the print or broadcast media.

"Take it to the bank in 2012," Bozell said to a standing ovation.
