Bondi on Fox: Get Obamacare Challenge to Supreme Court ASAP

Attorney General Pam Bondi took to Fox this morning to push for the lawsuit challenging the Affordable Care Act to be forwarded to the Supreme Court "as fast as possible."

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals announced a decision Friday declaring the individual mandate portion of the law, commonly known as Obamacare, unconstitutional, but left the remainder of the law in place.

Here's what she said about the decision:

On President Obamas health care law and what the ruling tells us:

This is completely unconstitutional and weve had the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals rule in our favor. We have the best ruling right now in the country. What they are saying is that if the federal government can order us to do this -- if they can force us to purchase a product simply by being alive --it is unconstitutional and they cannot do that and thats what weve been arguing from day one.

On whether or not she believes the law would still stand without the mandate:

No, I dont -- absolutely not. Thats why we need to get to the Supreme Court as fast as possible."

On judges claiming that the mandate is breathtaking:

This is so much bigger than health care. If they can do this to us -- they can do anything. And they used the word unconstitutional.

On her expectation for if and when the Supreme Court rules on the health care law:

The win is very important but weve always been confident that this is unconstitutional.

Politics are out of this now. This was a bipartisan opinion. One of the judges who wrote the opinion was appointed by President Clinton; the other was appointed by President Bush. So were asking the president now -- theres no reason to try to postpone this and let politics jump into this. We need to get this to the court," Bondi said.
