Biter to Oversee Planning, Logistics at FDOT
Richard Biter, a former federal deputy director of transportation, has been named the new FDOT assistant secretary for intermodal systems development by Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Ananth Prasad.
Biter in his new role will oversee the planning, environmental management, freight and logistics, and public transportation offices.
His experience and innovative ideas will help to ensure our transportation system makes Florida the premier gateway for imports and exports throughout the Southeast and, indeed, along the entire Eastern seaboard," Prasad said of Biter in a release. His expertise and energy will help Florida capitalize on the expansion of the Panama Canal, improve transportation to and from Floridas ports, and build an interconnected, efficient transportation system.
Biter, a principal with Sarasota-based TransGov Consulting, previously served as acting associate deputy secretary and director of the Office of Intermodalism at the U.S. Department of Transportation.
His first day with the state is Dec. 12.
