Bill Nelson Draws Fire From National Republicans
Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, who is seeking a third term in November, continues to draw the fire of Republicans at the national level. The National Republican Senate Committee released a Web video on Tuesday slamming Nelson for being part of the Democratic Senate majority that continues to fumble in passing a budget after 1,000 days.
Its simply remarkable that it took less time to build the Empire State Building than it has for Bill Nelson to pass a budget that will rein in his reckless spending habits, said Jahan Wilcox, a spokesman for the NRSC, in a statement. With our national debt at $15.2 trillion, Floridians need a senator who will actually do their job and pass a budget to help restore our countrys fiscal house.
With Republicans hoping to pick up the Senate in November, the Web ad is one more sign that Nelson -- who is not able to crack 50 percent favorable ratings in the polls despite his four decades on the Florida political stage -- remains a top target.
