Bill McCollum's Team Rips into Rick Scott for Missing Event
With Republican gubernatorial primary candidate Rick Scott pulling out of a forum held Saturday night in Boca Raton by the Christian Family Coalition, the campaign team of his chief rival for the GOP nod is steaming. Matt Williams, campaign manager for Attorney General Bill McCollum, sounded off on the matter late Saturday night.
Tonight, despite agreeing to appear at the Christian Family Coalition candidate forum in Boca Raton, Rick Scott disgracefully canceled at the last minute in order to continue avoiding questions about his fraudulent past from the press and the public, said Williams.
Trying to appeal to conservative primary voters, Williams attacked Scott. It is no surprise Rick Scott abruptly declined to appear at this evening's live televised event, considering he has so much to hide, said Williams. As CEO of Columbia/HCA, he failed to stop elective abortions at his hospitals and happily took the profits. Now, he continues to profit from selling the morning-after pill at the chain of pharmacies he owns and still takes profits from the social networking site he is a shareholder in, which partners with pornographers.
Rick Scotts repeated attempts to evade questions from the voting public is reminiscent of his evasion of questioning from the FBI following his involvement in the largest act of Medicare fraud in history, which he recently lied about during Thursday's debate, continued Williams. He's ducked debates, misled voters, dodged reporters and evaded editorial boards. With just two weeks left until the Republican primary, every voter should be asking, 'What is Rick Scott hiding?' The truth is that despite his slick ads, Rick Scott is a disgraced and greedy corporate executive looking to buy the governors mansion in an attempt to clear his name. On Aug. 24, Floridians will have a chance to choose the only principled conservative in the race by electing Bill McCollum as the Republican nominee.
UPDATE: The Scott team countered that they never planned to attend the event and that the McCollum campaign was looking to make political hay by blasting Scott for not showing up at a meeting he never planned on going to.
