Bill McCollum: No Support, No Class
Attorney General Bill McCollum, who lost the Republican gubernatorial primary to Rick Scott last week, told an Orlando TV station over the weekend he wouldn't -- because he just couldn't -- support Scott against Democrat Alex Sink. He apparently has too many questions about Scott's past at the helm of Columbia/HCA.
McCollum had months to get those questions answered and give voters some real meat to digest during the campaign. Unable to find anything criminal on Scott, anything that hadn't already been investigated and reinvestigated by the feds, he fired away at his opponent with character assassination ads paid for with the sweat of party leaders and fund-raisers, big checks from big-time corporate donors like U.S. Sugar Corp., and of course from Florida taxpayers, as well.
So that's how it ends. The party supported McCollum, now McCollum doesn't support the party. Great way to say thank you.
