Bill McCollum Files Suit to Defend Arizona's Immigration Law From Obama Legal Challenge

With immigration ranking as one of the leading issues in the bitter battle for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, Attorney General Bill McCollum announced on Wednesday that Florida would join eight other states and file an amicus brief, defending Arizonas new immigration law from a legal challenge from the Obama administration.

I support the current law in Arizona, and I support efforts to see a similar law brought to our state, said McCollum. Seeing no action or leadership from the federal authorities, Arizona has every right to move to protect its citizens, and for this they are being sued by the president.

McCollum and Rick Scott, his chief rival for the GOP nomination, have both presented themselves to conservatives as tough on the issue, promising to crack illegal immigration if elected.
