Florida Rep. Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda, D-Tallahassee, has filed a bill to give state workers who havent received any wage increases for several years an across-the-board 7 percent raise.
The bill, House Bill 289, has yet to receive a state analysis to estimate the fiscal impact.
Vasilindas bill comes as Gov. Rick Scott will push for the second year for performance bonuses for some state workers.
What Im going to propose is legislation, which I did last year. But last year we had my second year of budget projection deficits; this year we have a budget projection surplus because people are getting back to work, so what Im going to propose is a performance pay program, Scott said earlier this week.
