Ben Powell Succeeds Erik Fresen as Miami-Dade GOP Chair

Ben Powell has been named chairman of the Republican Party of Miami-Dade, succeeding state Rep. Erik Fresen.

Powell, a political appointee in the Reagan administration, has been a businessman for the past 20 years.

In addition to accountability, a major theme of mine will be openness," Powell said in a statement Friday. "I believe strongly in party unity and the concept of a Big Tent. Though we may support different candidates and have different ideas on certain issues, we also share common principles.

"These principals unite us and we should never forget that.
