Bashing Allen West, EMILY's List Goes All In For Lois Frankel
Former West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel has gone from being "on the List" to receiving EMILYs List full endorsement in Florida's 22nd Congressional District.
The group that bills itself as the nations "largest resource for women in politics," alternately praised Frankel and blasted U.S. Rep. Allen West in a statement Friday.
"Frankel represents the Democrats best opportunity to take back this seat from a tea party radical who told DNC chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz she was no lady, deserved no respect, and should shut the heck up," said Stephanie Schriock, president of the liberal Washington, D.C.-based political organization.
"Allen Wests sexist attacks and disturbing antics have voters experiencing major buyers remorse. Lois is ready to work for real solutions and bring civility back to Washington. The entire EMILYs List community is energized for this race and proud to put our full support behind Lois Frankel for Congress.
But first, Frankel -- who was elected to the Florida State House in 1986 and became mayor in 2003 -- must win the Democratic primary. Broward County businessman Patrick Murphy has filed to run, and has received financial backing from another ex-Republican, former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist.
