Barack Obama Birth Certifcate Surfaces in Florida Gubernatorial Race

With the Orlando Sentinel reporting that Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott seemed open to investigating whether or not President Barack Obama was born in the United States, the Florida Democratic Party and the campaign team of Attorney General Bill McCollum, Scotts main rival for the GOP nod, have opened fire.

While the McCollum campiagn forwarded the story without comment, the Democrats have come out swinging at Scott.

"Rick Scott, a discredited executive, may be willing to believe a discredited rumor about the citizenship of President Obama," said Eric Jotkoff, a spokesman for the Florida Democrats. "Scott needs to immediately clarify whether or not he believes the president was born in the United States. The fact that President Obama is a natural-born of our nation is irrefutable. Rick Scott's vague response to this 'birther' rumor is outrageous and only another sign that Scott does not share the values or priorities of our state."
