Attorney General Pam Bondi Applauds Passage of Pill Mill Bill Through House Panel

A House bill imposing new regulations on doctors and pharmacists passed through the Appropriations Committee Tuesday, a move appreciated by Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has been pushing legislation to fight "pill mills" or physicians who overprescribe powerful narcotics.

The House Appropriations Committee today passed legislation that will greatly increase the tools available to crack down on pill mills and prescription drug abuse. I applaud Representative Schenck and Speaker Cannon for their hard work on this important legislation, which will truly make a difference in the fight against pill mills," Bondi said.

The bill places caps on the amount of certain drugs that can be dispensed each month, and calls on doctors to use tamper-proof prescription pads.
