Attention, Mr. President: Americans Say D.C. Wields Too Much Power

In yet another warning sign to Barack Obama, two national opinion polls show deep public skepticism about the Left's big-government agenda.

A new Rasmussen survey reported that 50 percent of Americans believe the federal government has too much influence over the states, with just 11 percent saying Washington doesn't wield enough clout.

The Rasmussen results mirror concerns expressed by the Florida Chamber of Commerce over regulatory "stranglehold" the Obama administration is placing on businesses and state government. See Sunshine State News article here.

An earlier Rasmussen survey found that "just 17 percent of likely U.S. voters think the federal government today has the consent of the governed." A whopping 69 percent "believe the government does not have that consent."

While that result may be cautionary to both parties, such negative sentiment can't be encouraging for Democrats who control the White House and the Senate.
