Andy Gardiner Praises House for Sending Health Care Opt-Out to Voters

Senate Majority Leader Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, offered his take on the House joining the Senate in forwarding a constitutional amendment allowing Floridians to opt out of the federal health-care law backed by President Barack Obama.

Today, our colleagues in the House stood with the Senate against the intrusion of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and its threats to state sovereignty, said Gardiner. With their support, we are closer to the repeal of an unconstitutional mandate. The Health Care Freedom Act defends Floridians freedoms to decide whats best for their families without being forced into a health care plan that may not be suited for their needs.

I applaud the Houses decision to clear the path for this resolution, led by President Haridopolos and steadfastly supported by the entire Senate Republican Caucus, added Gardiner. The Health Care Freedom Act sends a message that Florida will not sit idly [by] when the government attempts to take away our God-given freedoms.
