Ander Crenshaw Supports Ban on Earmarks

U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw weighed in late last week, backing fellow congressional Republicans' plans to cut earmark spending.

With the federal debt at more than $13 trillion, Congress needs to put a microscope on the federal budget system and make tough choices to rein in crippling big-government spending. That includes earmarks, said Crenshaw, who represents parts of Duval, Jefferson and Leon counties and all of Baker, Columbia, Hamilton, Madison, Nassau, and Union counties in Congress. From one side of the Fourth Congressional District to the other, constituents continue to tell me that Congress needs to get its fiscal house in order. I couldnt agree more. Thats why I stood side-by-side with them in support of an earmark moratorium this year, and I take the same stance moving forward into the 112th session of Congress.

Earmarks are one part of Washingtons addiction to big-government spending and need to be addressed, added Crenshaw. A moratorium on earmarks is an important first step of many that need to be taken in order to return strength to our nations economy and build a brighter future for our children and grandchildren.
