Ander Crenshaw Honored by Navy Department

On Tuesday, U.S. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus presented U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw, R-Fla., with the Navy Distinguished Public Service Award which is the highest honor the Navy can give a civilian who does not work for the Department of the Navy.

"Congressman Crenshaw has demonstrated a deep commitment to the nation's sailors and Marines, and in particular the sailors and Marines who call Naval Station Mayport home, said Mabus. His tireless efforts as a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense ensure we have the resources necessary to support and defend the nation's interests around the globe. Through his work in Congress, he has contributed to the quality of the United States' naval forces and made certain the Navy-Marine Corps team remained the most formidable expeditionary fighting force in history."

Its a privilege to represent nearly 45,000 sailors and Marines from Northeast Florida, and I accept this award on behalf of them and all the servicemen and women who put their lives on the line in service to our nation, Crenshaw said. My commitment is to ensuring they have what they need to protect our freedom and security wherever they serve. I am deeply humbled and thank them for their dedication and courage from the bottom of my heart.
