Ander Crenshaw Argues Tax Cut Extension Will Help Economy

Arguing that letting them expire would constitute a serious tax increase, U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw, R-Fla., voted to back the extension of tax cuts for all Americans.

Congress has prevented a tax increase on working Americans, small businesses, and job-creating investments. Thats the top priority right now, said Crenshaw on Friday. Taxes would have risen for all Americans without passage of this bill. Thats the bottom line, and its unacceptable. Working families and small businesses do not deserve to be pawns in a dangerous game of political chess over their budgets. They do deserve results.

The choice for Congress: extend the tax cuts for two years or increase taxes on everyone on Jan. 1, causing a deeper recession and loss of tens of thousands of jobs across the nation, added Crenshaw. I voted to give economic recovery and job creation a greater chance. With unemployment heading to 10 percent, failure to pass an agreement preventing a tax hike would be devastating to everyone.
