Americans Want to Keep 'Star Spangled Banner' as National Anthem

With 2014 marking the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Fort McHenry and Francis Scott Keys writing of the Star Spangled Banner, a new poll finds Americans remain fans of the national anthem.

A poll from Rasmussen Reports finds 90 percent of American adults know the words of the song while only 14 percent think it is too hard to sing. A strong majority -- 78 percent -- of those surveyed want to keep it as the national anthem.

The poll of 1,000 American adults was taken from June 7-8 and had a margin of error of +/- 3 percent.
