Americans Want to End U.S. Aid to Egypt

A majority of Americans want the U.S. to end its aid to Egypt, according to a new Pew Research Poll. The poll found 51 percent of Americans want to cut off military aid to Egypt in order to pressure the Egyptian government, while only 26 percent want to continue to provide such aid.

The poll also showed Americans are unhappy with President Barack Obama's response to the increasingly violent protests in Egypt, which may be a reflection of the Obama administration's uphill battle as the Egyptian government and protests begin to clash.

Last month, 13 senators voted to cut off aid to Egypt when Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., forced a vote on the issue. Cutting off aid to Egypt has been gathering more support recently as protests in the country have turned more and more violent.

Half of Americans believe Obama isn't being tough enough on Egypt while only 6 percent believe he's being too tough on the country. Twelve percent believe the president is being tough enough on Egypt.
