Americans Growing Cooler on Federal Shutdown

With a federal government shutdown looming at the end of Monday, a new poll from Rasmussen Reports finds Americans are growing less comfortable with the idea.
A Rasmussen poll from two weeks ago found a slim majority -- 53 percent -- of those surveyed favoring a shutdown while 37 percent said they wanted spending to remain at current levels. But a Rasmussen poll released on Monday finds 45 percent favor the shutdown until the Democrat Senate and the Republican House can reach an agreement on what to cut. A slim plurality -- 46 percent -- would prefer to keep spending where it is and avoiding a shutdown.
The poll of 1,000 likely voters was taken from Sept. 28-29 and had a margin of error of +/- 3 percent.
