American Bridge Follows FDP Line of Attack on Rick Scott's Deposition
The American Bridge 21st Century PAC, a self-proclaimed progressive research and communications organization committed to "holding Republicans accountable for their words and actions," followed a familiar line of attack on Monday, criticizing Gov. Rick Scott for invoking the Fifth Amendment 75 times in a 2000 deposition.
"Scott was deposed in a civil case against his former company, Columbia/HCA, who later pleaded guilty to at least 14 corporate felonies including Medicare and Medicaid fraud, and paid a whopping $1.7 billion in criminal fines," reads the email from American Bridge. "Scott was under advisement from his attorney to invoke the Fifth Amendment in his deposition due to those ongoing criminal investigations."
The PAC accused Scott of dodging questions not only in the deposition, but in his re-election campaign as well.
"Whether Rick Scott is under oath or he's on the campaign trail,he just won't answer questions," wrote the PAC."When it comes to tackling problems, the voters of Florida don't need a governor who pleads the Fifth. They need real answers."
