Allen West Hits Obama for 'Appeasement' on Iran Deal
Former U.S. Rep. Allen West ripped the Obama administration on Tuesday for its deal to lower economic sanctions on Iran in return for that Middle East nation freezing its nuclear program. West, a favorite of the tea party movement, has opened the door to a political comeback in 2016.
As President Obama celebrates his signed agreement with Iran, let's keep something in mind ... Iran is one of the top enemies of the United States, West emailed supporters on Tuesday. It doesn't take a foreign-policy expert to see that we've been played for fools. This agreement is meaningless and is a bad deal for the United States and our allies especially Israel. Iran presents a clear and present danger to the United States and free people everywhere. There is no deal we can make with a radicalized Islamic terrorist state that we can expect to be honored.
Here's the truth: Iran will just continue making a nuclear bomb anyway. Now it's just harder for the U.S. or Israel to stop them, West continued. They are simply buying time to strengthen their position so they can blackmail the world with state-sponsored nuclear terrorism.
America is at its best when it's leading in the world, not following. And sometimes being a leader means doing what's hard and not what's easy, West insisted. Appeasing Iran by signing meaningless agreements is easy. Stopping them in their tracks from obtaining a nuclear weapon is dangerous and hard.
American freedom is at risk from Obama/Kerry/Clinton appeasement, West added. We need more patriots in Congress who will fight for America instead of bargaining with Iranian terrorists.
