Allen West Blames Obama for More Americans on Food Stamps than Working in Private Sector
Reports came out on Monday that there were more Americans on food stamps and other taxpayer-funded food assistance programs (101 million) than were employed in the private sector (97.2 million). Former Congressman Allen West, a favorite of the tea party movement, pointed the blame at President Barack Obama when he posted on Facebook late Monday.
"If there was ever any doubt what President Obama meant by fundamentally transforming our nation, this should put it to rest, West wrote. Now 101 million -- one-third of our population -- is on federal food aid of some sort. And it's not like Americans would go hungry either as 35.9 percent of adults age 20 and over are obese. We now have more people on food aid than are working in the private sector, and only 47 percent of working-age Americans have full-time jobs. Where are the leaders who will step forward to reverse this trend?
West has left the door open to a political comeback in 2016.
