All-Around-Confident NRSC Calls Florida Senate Race a Wrap for Marco Rubio
Republicans are feeling their oats. With less than a month to go till midterms, the National Republican Senatorial Committee is riding a towering wave of confidence that includes clean sweeps in four states and claims "every Republican incumbent running for re-election will win."
Rob Jesmer, executive director of the NRSC, issued a fund-raising memo Monday that also claims victory in every Republican open seat. He talked about Marco Rubio's "commanding" lead over independent Charlie Crist and Democrat Kendrick Meek; about Joe Miller's lead over his two opponents in Alaska; about Roy Blunt's strength in Missouri, where Democrats have pumped $3 million into that race to defeat him; and finally, about Rand Paul in Kentucky, whose lead over the trial attorney Democrat Robin Carnahan is unwavering.
Jesmer pointed out that the national Democrats have basically given up in New Hampshire, Kansas, Utah and Ohio.
As for seats held now by Democrats, the NRSC exec predicted wins for John Hoeven in North Dakota; Dan Coats in Indiana; John Boozman in Arkansas; Mark Kirk in Illinois, Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania; Ron Johnson in Wisconsin; and Ken Buck in Colorado.
The fund-raising is primarily for the Wisconsin and Colorado seats. It will take a strong infusion of cash to stay topside on those races, Jesmer said, but it will be done.
"We have the momentum," a confident Jesmer pitched, "but to keep it going and put our candidates over the top in all of these competitive races, we will need the resources to fight."
