Alex Sink and Bill McCollum Press Kenneth Feinberg on Claims Process

On Wednesday, Democratic state CFO Alex Sink and Republican Attorney General Bill McCollum, both of whom unsuccessfully ran for governor earlier in the year, sent a sharp letter to Kenneth Feinberg who is handling claims resulting from the oil spill in the Gulf.

Sink and McCollum demanded changes to the claims process, insisting that 40 percent of the more than 150,000 claims from Floridians have been paid.

It is essential that the damage already done to Floridas economy and environment not be compounded by an inefficient claims process for individuals and businesses that have lost income, wrote Sink and McCollum. We appreciate the opportunity to share our concerns and implore you to take immediate action to create a claims process that will provide a fairer, more rapid and more effective recovery for losses suffered by individual Floridians and Florida businesses.
