Alan Keyes Supporters Calling for Crist's Impeachment Over Gay Adoption

While most Florida politicians and parties are remaining distantly quiet on three appeals court judges striking down the states 33-year ban preventing homosexuals from adopting, there is one exception -- the state chapter ofAmericas Independent Party which ran conservative leader Alan Keyes for president in 2008.

A panel of three judges in the Third District Court of Appeals decided the Florida law, duly enacted by elected representatives, that prohibits homosexuals from adopting, is unconstitutional, wrote Gregory Poulos, the state chairman of the party, in an e-mail to supporters sent out on Thursday. Rather than fighting to uphold the Florida law and Constitution, which I am sure they took an oath to uphold, specifically to defend and protect, Governor Charlie Crist and Department of Children & Families Secretary George Sheldon indicated they would allow homosexuals to adopt children, flouting the law. I think Governor Crist should be impeached. We should contact Attorney General Bill McCollum and urge him as attorney general to fight for and uphold Florida's law.

The people by referendum in the last general election secured the definition of marriage as only a union between a man and a woman as an amendment in our Constitution, added Poulos. It has been understood through our history that we were to be a nation under the rule of law rather than the rule of men (subject to their whims). To allow this ruling of a few judges to stand, and to confirm it, stands the principle (of the rule of law) on its head.
