Al Lawson Continues to Float Name Against Steve Southerland

Democrats across the state and nation are increasingly excited about Gwen Graham, the daughter of Bob Graham who served two terms as governor and three in the U.S. Senate, who is running against U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland, R-Fla. But Graham could be facing a primary from former state Senate Democratic leader Al Lawson who ran in 2010 and 2012. Lawson almost defeated then-U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd in the primaries back in 2010 and he won the Democratic nomination to challenge Southerland in 2012.

Now Lawson is considering running yet again. If he runs, Lawson could certainly offer Graham a challenge in the primary. In an article published Wednesday in the Tallahassee Democrat, Lawson said its 50-50 that he could enter the race. Many Democratic leaders are already heavily invested in supporting Graham. Lawson could be facing some serious pressure to stay out of this race.
