AIF Endorses Republican Mike Hogan for Mayor of Jacksonville
One of the state's most powerful business organizations, Associated Industries of Florida, announced Thursday it has endorsed the former Florida legislator, Republican Mike Hogan, for mayor of Jacksonville.
AIF represents more than 10,000 members of the states business community, and its endorsement of Hogan is significant considering Jacksonville is where AIF was founded 91 years ago -- and where it still has a strong presence.
Mike Hogan has a proven record of fighting for small-business owners and the companies that create jobs for the people of Jacksonville, said Barney Bishop III, president and CEO of AIF. Mike Hogan has the support of the Jacksonville business community because he is committed to protecting the free market and fighting excessive regulations that stifle our economy."
Responded Hogan, Jacksonvilles business owners will lead the way to putting our city back to work. I am proud to have the support of AIF and its members.
Other endorsements for Hogan in his race against Democrat Alvin Brown include a growing list of business groups and politicians, including Gov. Rick Scott, Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll and former Gov. Jeb Bush.
The general election is May 17 in Jacksonville, city of 1.25 million. Early voting begins May 2.
