Agriculture Race Features Future of Florida Farming and KFC

U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam, the Republican nominee in the race to be Floridas next commissioner of agriculture and consumer services, met with the Future of Florida Agriculture Task Force on Friday and came away thinking his plans mirrored the organizations take on the future of farming in the Sunshine State.

It was a privilege to meet with the Future of Florida Agriculture Task Force to discuss opportunities and share solutions for moving Floridaagriculture forward, said Putnam. I have developed a comprehensive plan for addressing agricultures greatest issues, which also happen to be some of Floridas greatest issues, including renewable energy, water policy, environmental stewardship and a safe, abundant food supply. I was encouraged to see my agenda align so evenly with the recent recommendations of the task force. I am proud to be supported by so many leaders in agriculture, including members of this task force, and I look forward to putting our plans to work.

His Democratic opponent, former Tallahassee Mayor Scott Maddox, took aim at Putnams record on the environment later on Friday.

This is a career politician who has been in Washington for a decade and his environmental record has been abysmal, said Maddox. An environmentalist voting for Putnam is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.
